Nanny Diary- Burned Out

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share with you the chaotic and busy week I had, and  by the title I am sure you can tell it ended in me being burned out and not feeling to great.

This past week I took on extra hours at work so I was working full time. I also told another family I would do daycare drop off and pick up/bedtime routine. It was very exhausting and I was rushing between the daycare and my job. Even after getting home I did not get to relax like I had hoped. I would begin to do homework and post my blog post for that day. It was not until this morning I realized I was burned out and really needed a break!

Even though I had a crazy week it was also very eye opening and helped me to realize I could make some changes so that I do not get overwhelmed in the coming month when I have to balance a full time job and going to school full time. The biggest thing I realized I could do is do one assignment a day and not all of them on one day. This would not only help me have a less stressful week but I also would do better in school because I am giving my attention to one lesson instead of three. The second thing that I learned is that I am able to schedule my posts to post to my blog by itself. This will make it so that I am not rushing to type and format posts.

At the moment I am working on homework and rushing to type this post. However, I do look forward to trying these new ideas this week and hopefully will be able to relax a little bit! What do you do to ease your work load? Let me know in the comments below!


Where Do You Go For Peace

Hey everyone! I know I have not posted in a while. Life has been crazy stressful with work and school! This is actually what today’s topic is. Where do you go when you want to clear your mind? Who do you go to when you need to talk?

I do not go to the same place every time. I either go to the Mesa temple or I will go for a drive. Sometimes driving around and listening to music helps. Other times I feel the need to go to the temple and sit on the benches in front of the temple and think. Tonight as I write this I am sitting at the temple. Sitting alone and thinking can be great, but sometimes it can add to the stress. Sometimes I need to talk to some of my friends.

I have some of the greatest friends in the world. I know I can text them or call them anytime. I am super thankful for my friend, Marnae. Without her I would be a total basket case. I have talked to her about everything from body issues to boy troubles. There were some times when she would stay up with me until 2 or 3 in the morning, just to work things out.  I definitely can’t thank her enough for everything she has done for me! My other friend, Walker* has been a saint the past couple months. He deserves an award! I have texted him about my worries about a baby I know, my struggles with trigonometry, and much more. He has been such a great listener and so sweet to me through everything. I have more wonderful friends that I have spoken to and am so thankful for every one of them!

Stress Management

Hey everyone! Today I thought I’d write about ways to manage stress. Before I begin I want to say that these are ways I cope with stress. These methods may not work for you, but I hope that you are able to find something that helps you.

Recently I’ve been stressing out a lot. I’ve been stressing about school, work, and friendships. Some of the things that have been happening to me are getting canker sores, bad stomach aches/cramps, and I’ve even been losing some of my hair. I finally decided that  this would not just go away and that I needed to find ways to manage this stress. I would like to say that I have this all figured out, but truthfully I don’t. I am still actively trying to figure out ways to manage this stress.

The first thing that I do is talk to my friends. When I start to feel overwhelmed I will message one of my friends and talk about what is going on. This does not totally get rid of my stress, but I do feel a little better. Another thing I do regarding friends is I’ll get a hug from one of them. This works for me, but may not work for you.

If those two things don’t work or if a friend is unavailable I will take a nap. This may not be the best thing to do, because it is probably not great to sleep every time you are stressing out, but it can be good sometimes. After a nap I wake up feeling more clear headed and able to calm down about whatever is bugging me.

Another way I manage stress is I will take a break and read. I will usually do this when stressing about homework and school. I will do a section of homework then take a break and read. I will go back and forth doing this until I get my homework done.

The last thing I do is exercise. I usually run on the treadmill, but recently I have started doing yoga. A good fitness channel to watch is tone it up, on you tube.  Pinterest is also a good place to get different exercises from.

These are a few things that work for me. I don’t know if everything will work for you, but it’s worth a shot. I hope you all found this a little helpful. If you have any other ways you manage stress, let me know. I’d love to hear your methods!
