Meeting Pierce Brown

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. On Saturday I went to a book signing for Pierce Brown’s newest book, Iron Gold. I wanted to take a little time to tell you about that experience.

This was the first book signing I have been to, so I was not really sure what to expect when I went. One of the things I did not expect was how long it would take. I thought it would be two hours tops, and it ended up being 4 1/2 hours. However, it was well worth the wait! The signing started out with a Q & A session, which was great! There were not many spoilers about the books either, which was good. I am only on the first book in the series so the fact that not much was spoiled for me! After the Q & A session it was time for the signing and meeting part.  This part was such a great experience! Pierce Brown was so nice, and was amazing at interacting with all of his readers! Even when I mentioned that I had not read his books yet, he was still very kind.

I could not have picked a better author for my first book signing. Pierce Brown’s books are so engaging and you will not want to put them down! Be sure to keep an eye out for my book review on Red Rising.  Have you been to  a book signing before? Let me know in the comments below!


Toilet Paper Roll Poppy

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share with you all how “D” and I made this toilet paper roll Poppy. It was a super easy project, and was quick. For this project you will need;

  • Scissors
  • Glue Sticks
  • Tape
  • Markers
  • Toilet Paper Roll
  • Construction Paper (pink, blue, and green)
  • Paper towel


  1. First cut out a piece of pink paper. Make sure it is big enough to wrap all the way around the toilet paper roll. Glue that on.
  2. Next cut out little blue flowers and glue them to a green strip. Glue this to the top of the roll.
  3. After that color a piece of paper towel pink. Tape this into the toilet paper roll.
  4. The last thing to do is to draw Poppy’s face.

Learning Patience

Hey everyone! Today I am going to do a nanny diary. This past week of work was a great lesson in patience! It was “D” who taught this all to me. I usually am pretty good at dealing with typical toddler attitudes, but this past week has been a little tougher.

This past week was the dreaded shark week for me, and with that “D” had what I am convinced is her baby shark week. This left both of us at odds with who really is in charge. There were a whole lot of  “no’s”, tears, temper tantrums, and negotiating. Through all of this I realized that instead of continually telling “D” no or do not do that I could say it once then focus on playing with Baby P. At first she would stand next to me screaming and jumping around in anger, but then she realized that if she stopped and would listen she would get the attention she wanted.

Even though the week started out tough and I wanted to pull my hair out “D” and I ended up having a great day today! What are some of the things you do when you need more patience? Let me know in the comments below!



My Majors

Hi everyone! Classes started for me this past week, and with that I decided I would talk a little about my major. Monday was the first day of my classes that are completely centered on my major, which I am super excited about.

For those of you who do not know I am majoring in speech and hearing sciences. My plan is to get my masters in speech language pathology and my doctorate in audiology.  I plan to specialize in a few things, but as of right now I am planning on working with children and veterans.

I originally decided to major in speech language pathology, because of my experiences in speech therapy. I was very blessed to have a great speech therapist, and was able to correct my lisp in a short amount of time. I want to be able to make a difference in someone else’s life the way my speech therapist did for me.

A few months into my major I decided I also wanted to be an audiologist. After becoming more familiar with cochlear implants and hearing loss I realized that this was my ultimate goal, and that I wanted to be an audiologist. I wanted to see the excitement people feel when being able to hear clearly again for the first time in their life.

I love my classes so far, and look forward to the rest of the semester. I also am looking forward to completing my major and starting to work in this field. What inspired you all to choose your majors? Let me know in the comments below!


It’s Not Okay: Turning Heartbreak into Happily Never After

Hi everyone! Today Andi Dorfman’s second book came out, and to mark this day I wanted to do a review of her first book. The first book came out in 2016; however I read it this past year. I immediately loved it and could not put it down! For those of you who do not know, Andi Dorman was in season 10 of The Bachelorette. At the end of the show Andi did get engaged, but in the end it did not work out and her engagement ended. Throughout the book Andi talks about her time on The Bachelorette, her engagement, and how she got through everything after her engagement ended. There were so many great parts in this book, but I am only going to focus on a few points!

The first thing I want to mention is the very first page.  It says, “To all the brokenhearteds of the world…One day all the pain will make sense.” While I loved this whole part the part where she writes “…One day all the pain will make sense.” I believe this 100 percent, and it was definitely the case for me when my engagement ended! After my engagement ended I noticed I became more outgoing and willing to take more risks. I also met a really great guy this past year too, and I know if I had been with my ex still that would not have happened.  I would have missed out on a lot of great moments.

The next part I want to talk about is a few pages later when Andi is talking about how this break up will define her for the rest of her life and how the label of being an ex-fiancee is the worst. As I read these few pages I was sobbing! This really hit home with me. I know for me personally knowing that I will always have an ex-fiancee and I can never get that first proposal back.  While I do not regret getting engaged to my ex and having that relationship with him, I do regret not being able to say I was only engaged once. I will never get to spend the rest of my life with the person I thought that I would love and would love me forever, and that is a terrible feeling to have.

The last part I am going to mention is toward the end, and Andi asks, “Why do men always seem to move on faster than woman?”  I have asked this so many times! I will not say how quickly my ex moved on after things ended, but for me it took me two years to finally start to date again! In that time I have only dated one other person while my ex has dated more than one. It does hurt to think that I may have meant so little to him that he was able to date again quickly. One thing I did learn from that moment though was that the time did help me to heal better and I was more open to dating.  I do believe that the guy I dated really helped too. If he were not to have been so wonderful to me I most likely would still be not willing to date.

It’s Not Okay was exactly what I needed to read and I really do recommend it to everyone! I will say that I do not regret getting engaged, but I do regret how I handled it after and do wish I would have moved on with my normal life a little bit quicker. Have any of you read Andi’s book? Dry shampoo

Hey everyone! This is going to be a super short post, but I wanted to tell you all about my favorite dry shampoo and get recommendations from you all!

The dry shampoo I use at the moment is Living Proof. It is a sample size I got in a subscription box, and I do really enjoy it. It smells nice, and it does not leave my hair feeling gross. It really does work!

With all that being said I do have brown hair and my roots are growing out liking black. I have noticed wire from where I sprayed in some areas. It doesn’t bother me a whole lot since I will usually wear a hat anyways, but I am wanting a shampoo that doesn’t do that. It is a bit pricy selling at 15 to 29 dollars depending on the size of the bottle. That is really the only two complaint I have about this shampoo.

I really do love this dry shampoo and do recommend it if you have the chance! I suggest the sample size if you do not use it a lot! This is where you all come in! In the comments below leave your favorite dry shampoo for dark hair or any tips you have for making hair last longer between washes! I need all the help I can get, because I hate having to wash and dry my hair. Hit the like button if you can relate!

Smart Strategies to Better Time Management

Hello my name is Annmarie and I am terrible at time management!  I am sure a few of you can relate to that statement. With classes starting again tomorrow I thought now would be a great time to talk about different techniques I am going to be using to better my time management skills and with that hopefully help you too!

The first thing that I have found that really helps me is using a planner! I put everything in my planner, from babysitting jobs to my school schedule and assignments. I have used many different planners, but this year I am using a Mead planner from Target. When writing out everything I assign a certain color to each topic. I even use different colors for each class. So one class may be purple and another will be brown. Being able to see the different things I need to do in different colors really helps and keeps my attention.

The next thing that helps with managing time is to set a time limit for each activity. I totally understand that this might not work for everything, but with most it should. I know that managing school, work and other activities can be difficult. However, on days that I have to work, go to school, and do other activities I can set this time out. An example of what I might do for Mondays is; Work 7:30-12:30, School 2-4:30, Chiropractor 5:30-6. With those three main things it does not leave a whole lot of time to do much else. So I could set an hour and a half for studying for each class. I also have gotten in the habit of working out every day so on my busy days I can find a few five minute workouts and do those! I have yet to try this technique, but I definitely plan to do so tomorrow!

The last thing I am going to talk about is planning out your weeks and making sure you have everything ready ahead of time. This will cut down on time during the individual days. I have done this and it definitely works! With that being said I do not do it every week, which I plan on changing.  For me this might be planning out my blog posts and having them typed and saved on my computer. By doing that I do not have to stress about my lack of time to type up a post and sometimes even come up with a topic! If I have everything typed and planned I can just copy it to the blog page and publish it in a few minutes, which will end up saving me 5 hours a week at least!

I am in no way a professional at time management, but by doing these different techniques weekly and even daily I hope to make things so much easier on myself! Using my planner has been the best technique for me, but may not be the best for you. Let me know what you do to better manage your time in the comments below!


24 Facts about Me

Hey everyone! For today’s post I thought I would take a couple minutes to share with you 24 facts about me.

  1. I am a college student, and am majoring in Speech and Hearing Sciences.
  2. I work as a nanny to 3 girls
  3. I am the oldest of three. I have two younger brothers!
  4. I love to watch television shows and movies. I have so many shows that I love to watch weekly and often binge Netflix shows.
  5. I have a ton of mugs and water bottles that I hardly ever use. However, I continue to buy more!
  6. I love ABBA! I have a station on my Pandora account dedicated to ABBA and know basically every song.
  7. I teach primary at my church and have done so on and off for 7 years. I started at 18 and stopped at 22 then picked up again this year!
  8. I really enjoy doing crafts! Pinterest is my kryptonite.
  9. I love superhero movies and shows. Captain America is my favorite!
  10. I love sports! My favorites are; baseball, football, rugby, and NASCAR.
  11. Whenever I go to Target or the bookstore I always buy stationary and notebooks.
  12. I go to the chiropractor weekly to bi-weekly and have seen an incredible difference.
  13. I drink coca cola or cherry Pepsi once a day
  14. My prized possession is a stuffed seal I got from my parents as a baby.
  15. I love Toms! I have at least 10 pairs.
  16. I have 2 dogs that I love. One is a pocket Pitbull named Chloe and the other is a Great Pyrenees mix named Harvey.
  17. My favorite holiday is the Fourth of July. I have no idea why it is my favorite though.
  18. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  19. I got engaged at 21 years old. Things did not last with him though.
  20. I love rodeos. I have gone to at least 1 every year for the past 3 with my best friend.
  21. I am not a huge fan of sweets. However, when I do eat any it is sweet tarts (not the yellow ones) or chocolate cherries.
  22. I love reading! I will not read Jane Austen though. When I read Pride and Prejudice for high school I screamed “I want my life back.”
  23. I love shopping! My favorite places are target, kohl’s, amazon, and etsy.
  24. My favorite music genre is country music! Josh Turner and Dierks Bentley are my absolute favorites.

Movies That Make Me Happy

Hey everyone! A couple months ago I wrote about my favorite shows to watch when I am feeling a little down or just need to feel happy. Today I am going to keep with the same topic, but instead of television shows I am going to talk about movies.

The first movie I watch if I need a mood boost is William and Kate. This is a smaller less known movie that was aired right before the royal wedding, but I love it! When this movie was on Netflix I was watching it almost every weekend. I love how it is a modern day fairy tale and even though there were some tough times between Prince William and Kate they got their happily ever after in the  end!

The second movie I go to is not just one movie, but eight of them. The Fast and Furious franchise is my absolute favorite movie franchise! I am both embarrassed and proud to admit that I binge watched all 7 of the movies (the eighth was not out yet) in one weekend.  I love how there is action in every movie, and the plot of each movie is just as great. However, the real reason I watch these movies when I need a pick me up is because of Paul Walker. It does not get much better, in my opinion!

The third and last movie I am going to talk about is The Longest Ride. I have seen this movie at least fifteen times, most of which were in one week. I did not think I would like this movie as much as I did, but once I watched it I could not stop. This was my go to movie when I needed a good cry! I cried for the first five times, because of it being so good at pulling the heart strings. Being able to see the love story between two different generations was amazing! It is definitely in my top five favorite Nicholas Sparks movies.

If you could not tell from my binge watching every movie on this list, I love movies! These were just three of my favorites to watch that instantly lift my mood. However, I have a lot more that I love! Do you have any movies you watch to lift your mood? Let me know in the comments below!


The Brooke Burke Body App

Hi everyone! Today I am going to talk to you about one of my new favorite apps. I just downloaded it a week ago and love it! This app is the Brooke Burke Body app. If you could not tell by the title of the app, this is a fitness app.

On the app you will find many different workouts, for every part of your body! The categories you will find warm ups, booty burns, total body, abs, legs, and upper body. If you need a more set schedule for workouts there is a challenge going on right now. You can also look under Brooke’s Workout Week, and follow those videos.

I have been taking part in the New Year, New You Challenge and it is such an amazing workout plan. I am feeling sore which I love! It just shows how hard I am working out. After each workout I feel great! What I really love about this app, besides the amazing workouts, is that each video takes very little time to complete. If you are in a hurry one day and just need a quick workout you can go and find a 5 minute workout! This is great for me, because sometimes after a day at work and/or school I come home and do not feel like exercising, but I can turn on a quick workout and do what I am supposed to. They do have longer workouts if you would like that too!

The Brooke Burke Body app is available in the App Store on iPhones and in the Play Store for Androids. The subscription is $7.99 per month, which equals 25 cents a day! It does not get much better than that! You will not regret downloading this app.
